Title: How to Introduce a Child to Art so They’ll Want to Go to a Museum?
Age: 3+
Time: 13:00 – 14:00
Description: How can we talk to children about masterpieces and artists in a way that feels easy, vivid, and engaging?
We invite you to a meeting with Fiona Wirfel — creator of the world’s best children’s magazine on art, The Young Art Critic, which already helps kids and parents open a window into the wide and fascinating world of art.
This is not just a lecture — it’s a lively public talk about cultural development through visual stories, characters, playful formats, and museum narratives. We’ll discuss:
– how a magazine can serve as a “first ticket to the museum,”
– why children remember art through images and adventures,
– and how any parent can become a guide to culture — without complicated words.
Participants: Fiona Wirfel — Editor-in-Chief of The Young Art Critic magazine
Venue: Sretensky Boulevard, Book in the City project of the Summer in Moscow program

Title: “Out Loud”
Age: 16+
Time: 18:30
Description: Some people read funny messages aloud, others share their favorite moments from books. Writers reread their own texts, and students sometimes speak through their lectures. But this practice goes much further: in today’s world, it helps reduce stress and creates a sense of collective experience. Reading aloud also develops speech, diction, and public speaking skills — and serves as a powerful prevention against Alzheimer’s disease.
By listening to and pronouncing text, we improve concentration and memory, retaining more details and structuring information for future use. Reading aloud slows down the overwhelming flow of information we face daily and brings focus to what truly matters.
At our book club meetings, we’ll learn to listen, to be attentive to the world and each other, to freely read favorite passages aloud and discuss them, and to notice how the same text can take on new meanings when spoken with different intonations.
